Moore-Sponsored Bill to Protect Small Businesses Advances

Legislation filed by Senator Moore recently advanced from the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security.  The bill, which would establish basic protections for small businesses that are targeted by exploitative lawsuits under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), received unanimous support from Committee members and has moved through to the next step in the legislative process.

Senator Moore recently attended the Shrewsbury School Committee meeting to present Jared Sarnie with the $500 scholarship named in memory of longtime Millbury-Sutton Chronicle columnist Tom Reilly who passed away earlier this year.  Senator Moore sponsored the scholarship opportunity for graduating high school seniors who reside in the Second Worcester District.

Senator Moore and Representative Kate D. Campanale (R-Leicester) recently joined representatives from The Arc, The Central Mass Providers, the South Valley Citizens Advisory Board and local officials to congratulate community members who have dedicated their lives to serving and advocating for persons with disabilities.  Among the award recipients were David and Marjorie Cohen of Worcester who have served the special needs community for more than two decades.

Shrewsbury Secures $22K in Climate Change Adaptation Grants

Senator Moore and Representative Hannah E. Kane (R-Shrewsbury) announced that the Town of Shrewsbury received a $22K grant through the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) grant program.  The MVP program, which is coordinated through the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, seeks to help communities adapt to climate change.

Sen. Moore Bill to Curb Campus Sexual Violence Gets Green Light

The Joint Committee on Higher Education unanimously voted to advance legislation filed by Senator Moore to help address the issue of college campus sexual violence.  The bill is a re-filed version of Moore-sponsored legislation that passed the Senate last year but ultimately was not considered by the House of Representatives before the end of the legislative session.

Moore Signals Support for Increased Education Aid to Local Communities

Senator Moore recently signed onto a letter to the Chairs of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means requesting that minimum per-pupil increases within the Fiscal Year 2018 state budget hold steady at $55 for the second straight year.  A total of 63 other legislators joined Senator Moore in adding their names to the submitted letter.

Moore Highlights Massachusetts Medal of Liberty Award

Senator Moore is highlighting the so-called ‘Medal of Liberty’ which is a Massachusetts military decoration created by the Legislature back in 2009.   Since its creation, the award has been presented to 145 families of military members who died in service to the United States of America.
