Senator Moore announced that the Massachusetts Senate passed legislation to ban the sale of many home products containing identified dangerous flame retardant chemicals.  The ban will extend to children’s products and home furnishings, including carpeting and bedding.  The bill requires manufacturers to notify retailers of their products which contain these chemicals before the ban goes into effect. 

Sen. Moore took action to help assist the local Leicester community with replacing a stolen American flag.  

Senator Moore announced that the Massachusetts Senate solidified its role as a civil rights leader in passing An Act Relative to Transgender Anti-Discrimination.  This bill provides equal access to public places for every resident of the Commonwealth, regardless of gender identity.

The Massachusetts Senate approved a comprehensive, omnibus agricultural package.  The bill, entitled An Act to promote agriculture in the Commonwealth, provides opportunities and protections to current and prospective farmers throughout Massachusetts by increasing access and availability of locally grown food products, and investing in educational and agricultural programs to grow the industry.

Senator Moore welcomed five student artists to the State House from Worcester-area colleges to unveil an art display inspired by landscapes and images of the Greater Worcester area. 

Senator Moore announced that the Massachusetts Senate passed an omnibus bill that seeks to reduce tobacco use and nicotine addiction among youth.  Among other provisions, the legislation will prohibit the sale of all tobacco and nicotine delivery products to individuals under the age of 21. 

Following the discovery of additional hazardous waste materials on property recently purchased by the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA), Senator Mike Moore and Representative Dan Donahue announced that the state would be providing an additional $3 million in funding to assist decontamination efforts. 

BOSTON – For the second straight year, Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) announced grant funding available through the Attorney General’s Office that would provide an estimated 200 summer jobs to benefit underserved youth across the Commonwealth.

The Massachusetts Senate passed four sentencing reform related bills that address various criminal justice reform issues such as penalties for vandalism and graffiti (“tagging”), non-payment of fines, and the use of community corrections and diversion programs for those awaiting trial.

The Massachusetts Legislature passed a bill that raises the solar net-metering cap and creates a long-term roadmap for the continued growth of solar power in the Commonwealth. These updates will provide a stable framework that will better protect the Commonwealth’s ratepayers while supporting the growth of the solar industry in a cost-effective manner.

Senator Mike Moore announced that the Massachusetts Senate passed An Act Enhancing Reform, Innovation, and Success in Education (The RISE Act).  A Moore-sponsored amendment was also adopted as part of the final bill which enhances local authority relative to the approval of new charter schools in the Commonwealth.
