Sen. Moore Presents United States Flag to the Town of Leicester

May 23, 2016 Senator Michael Moore

LEICESTER, MA – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) joined Leicester Police Chief James Hurley and Town Administrator Kevin Mizikar to present a United States flag to the Town of Leicester.

The flag will serve as a replacement for the American flag located on the Town Common which had been stolen earlier in the month.  Senator Moore, who first learned about the incident when speaking with former Selectman Tom Brennan, reached out to the Town to donate a new flag.

“Given the tragic events that have transpired within the last several days, the presentation of this flag bears special significance to area residents,” said Sen. Moore.  “Even during tough times, the spirit and unity of the community is captured by our Nation’s flag.  I am proud to be a part of restoring this important symbol to the Town of Leicester.”

Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise on Monday May 23, 2016 until sunset on the day of interment in honor of Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarentino of Leicester.
