The Senate adjourned in memory of Thomas J. Noonan of Shrewsbury Massachusetts, who passed July 7th. Mr. Noonan was appointed Clerk Magistrate of the Central District Court by Gov. Dukakis in 1977 – where he would remain an institution, a friendly face and a mentor until his retirement in 2017.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving accounted for 3,450 deaths in 2016. In the prior year, an estimated 400,000 people suffered from injuries because of distraction-affected crashes.
