Sen. Moore Takes Action to Address MBTA Fare Proposal Process

In response to concerns about the recent community meeting held at Union Station in Worcester by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), Senator Moore filed two amendments to the Fiscal Year 2019 supplemental budget debated by the Senate.  The amendments seek to address issues relative to the public hearing process for increasing MBTA fares, and widespread concerns regarding fare evasion throughout the public transit system.

Sen. Moore Supports Additional Heating Assistance Funding

Senator Moore and Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) announced that the Upton State Forest will benefit from state grant funding and partner contributions from the Bay State Trail Riders Association (BSTRA) to support trail repairs and improvements.  The state funding was awarded through the Partnerships Matching Funds Program coordinated by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) announced that Governor Charlie Baker recently signed a bill into law relative to the Upton Town Manager.  The bill, H.4989, was filed by both legislators in response to a vote taken by local residents during the Special Town Meeting on November 13, 2018.

Senate Acts to Extend Unemployment Insurance for Locked-out Workers

Senator Moore announced that the Senate passed legislation to extend unemployment benefits for locked out National Grid workers for up to 26 additional weeks, or until National Grid workers are no longer locked out, whichever comes first. The benefits would be part of the existing unemployment insurance system.
