Senator Moore and Harriette L. Chandler (D-Worcester) announced that the Massachusetts State Senate adjourned today’s legislative session in memory of fallen Worcester Firefighter Christopher Roy. 

Senator Moore was appointed by Senate President Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) to serve on a Special Commission to study the cost and feasibility of exempting Massachusetts veterans from tuition, fees and associated costs of attending public colleges and universities in the Commonwealth.

Statement by Sen. Moore regarding Firefighter Christopher Roy who passed away in the line of duty. Firefighter Roy was assigned to Ladder 4 at the Webster Square Fire Station in Worcester.   At 3:58 in the morning of December 9, 2018, he responded to a 5-alarm house fire that claimed his life.

Senator Moore recently participated in a panel discussion regarding the cyber security public policy landscape.  The conversation focused on efforts underway in the Massachusetts State Senate to protect data privacy and to promote a uniform set of standards in the Commonwealth.

Senator Moore will take to the airwaves as host of a radio broadcast every first Saturday of the month. The program, titled “Politically Speaking,” will cover a broad range of politically-related topics.

Senator Moore and Representative James J. O’Day (D-14th Worcester District) are encouraging families to attend an upcoming information session regarding the Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Initiative (MAICEI).  The program supports students with disabilities to achieve their educational and career goals in a college environment. 

Senator Moore is highlighting a free workshop being presented by the Office of Economic Empowerment under the leadership of State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, and in partnership with People’s United Bank.  The event will highlight information about financial education and security, and discuss how local residents can protect themselves from fraud.  

Senator Moore, Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) and Senator Ryan C. Fattman (R-Webster) are excited to announce that Riverdale Mills Corporation has been awarded a Workforce Training Fund Program grant.

Senator Moore and Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) recently announced the passage of Senate Bill 2607, An Act Relative to Students with Dyslexia, on October 19th.

Senator Moore announced that Wirefab, Inc. received a manufacturing award for their innovative and dynamic manufacturing processes.  As a member of the Legislature’s Manufacturing Caucus, Senator Moore nominated Wirefab for the statewide recognition earlier this year. 

Senator Moore welcomed Kwesi Foster of Cherry Valley to the State House for the Citizens’ Legislative Seminar (CLS). Kwesi was nominated by Senator Moore earlier this year to participate in the civic education program.

Senator Moore and Representative Hannah E. Kane (R-Shrewsbury) announced that the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development recently awarded Central One Federal Credit Union in Shrewsbury a training grant through the Workforce Training Fund General Program.

With the statewide election around the corner, Senator Moore recently launched a webpage with helpful information about how Massachusetts residents can cast their ballot this November.  The online resource provides links to helpful information about how to vote early, absentee or at the polls.  

Senator Moore has been appointed by Senate President Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) to serve on the newly-established Special Commission to Study the Prevention of Suicide Among Correction Officers in Massachusetts Correctional Facilities.

Senator Moore joined Governor Charlie Baker and legislative colleagues at the ceremonial bill signing of legislation intended to enhance humane treatment of animals, and to punish those who engage in animal cruelty. 

In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of emergency preparedness, Senator Moore is reminding local residents that September is National Preparedness Month.  The annual designation promotes the importance of taking steps to prepare and plan for potential emergency situations.

Senator Moore attended a roundtable discussion with Governor Charlie Baker, top state education officials, students and staff at Chelsea High School regarding early college programs.  Senator Moore, who serves as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, has long advocated for expanded early college opportunities in the Commonwealth.
