BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) is spreading awareness to local farmers and farm-related businesses about the availability of low-interest loans through the Drought Emergency Loan Fund.
The Fund was officially launched yesterday by the Administration in response to the ongoing drought conditions that have plagued Massachusetts for over three months. The loans, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, are available to assist farmers and small businesses in the agricultural industry with financial losses caused by the drought.
“The agricultural sector in Central Massachusetts, and across the state, has been hit hard by the crippling drought conditions,” said Senator Moore. “I commend the Administration and state agricultural officials for making this funding available to help farmers and small businesses recover from this historic drought.”
Up to $1 million has been authorized for the Fund and applications are expected to be available through November of this year.
