BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) and State Representative Kate D. Campanale (R-Leicester) are pleased to announce the City of Worcester and the Town of Leicester will be receiving multiple Federal Highway Safety Grants.
Worcester will be receiving $84,000 for traffic enforcement, $15,000 for underage drinking enforcement, and $7,500 for bike and pedestrian safety. Leicester will be receiving $7,500 for traffic enforcement and $2,000 for child safety.
“As a former law enforcement officer, I recognize the importance of providing our public safety officials with the tools necessary to effectively perform their duties,” said Senator Moore, who serves as Senate Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. “Congratulations to both the Worcester and Leicester Police Departments. I am confident that this funding will assist with their ongoing mission to keep our communities safe.”
“I am very happy for both the Worcester and Leicester Police Departments whose brave men and women give 100% every day to protect our communities,” said Representative Campanale. “It is vital we continue to provide local law enforcement with the resources they need to best perform their job.”
