Senator Mike Moore recently co-sponsored a Joint Resolution filed by Representative Colleen Garry (D-Dracut) that recognizes the week of February 7th -14th as Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week. 

Sen. Mike Moore announced that the Senate passed legislation that would ban the use of mobile devices while driving.

Sen. Moore announced details of an initiative to assist nonprofit organizations with offering financial literacy programs to area residents.  Funding is available through Citizens Bank’s Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money financial literacy initiative.

Sen. Moore & Sen. Chandler announced that $400,000 has been awarded through the Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) grant program to support the second phase of the Coes Knife renovation project in Worcester.

Sen. Moore and Rep. Muradian offered testimony last week in support of legislation that would secure ownership of property in the Town of Grafton as the permanent home for the Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center (MSPMLC).

Sen. Moore announced today that the 76th Citizens' Legislative Seminar (CLS) will be held next spring on Tuesday, March 22nd and Wednesday, March 23rd at the State House.

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) has recently filed for a rehearing, following a First Circuit Court of Appeals order that the STB re-review the operations of the Grafton/Upton Railroad.

Sen. Moore joined Treasurer Deborah Goldberg and members of the Financial Literacy Task Force to announce the release of the Task Force’s final report.  As Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, Sen. Moore was appointed in April by Senate President Stan Rosenberg (D-Amherst) to serve on the Task Force as a member of the College Subcommittee. 

Sen. Moore announced that the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Security advanced legislation that would halt, at least temporarily, the slated closure of the C-3 State Police barracks in Brookfield.

Sen. Moore and Rep. Kane announced that the Senate and House of Representatives enacted legislation that would exempt the newly-created Shrewsbury Deputy Fire Chief position from Civil Service.     

Sen. Moore sponsors an annual Turkey Dinner at the Upton Senior Center to bring the Thanksgiving Holiday to local residents one plate at a time. 

Sen. Moore voted in favor of legislation passed by the Senate to address the unregulated practice of exchanging an adopted child, also called “re-homing.” Re-homing occurs when an adoptive parent, who feels they can no longer care for the child, posts an advertisement on the internet to pass the child on to another without any oversight.

Sen. Moore attended the AAA Northeast Traffic Safety Awards luncheon held in Worcester to honor the Grafton Police Department and Officer Robert Collette for his distinguished service and commitment to traffic safety.  

Sen. Moore, along with other members of the Worcester Legislative Delegation, attended a graduation ceremony for trainees who participated in the six-week Skillsbuild Pre-Apprentice Program sponsored by the Massachusetts AFL-CIO at the New England Laborers’ Training Academy.

Sen. Moore announced that the Foundation Budget Review Commission recently issued its final report detailing recommendations on updating foundation budget formulas for public education.
