An Act recognizing pharmacists as healthcare providers

Summary

This bill would bring Massachusetts in line with 38 other states who recognize pharmacists as healthcare providers. This would allow for pharmacists to provide additional and more comprehensive services to patients, including chronic disease management and medication therapy management services. Chronic Disease accounts for 91% of prescriptions filled, but without supervision to ensure medications are dosed and interacting correctly, the regimens are notably less effective.  Allowing pharmacists to be more involved will lead to cost savings and improve outcomes.
